BMR measurement

B.B. (this is what I will call you if ok)

I would be interested in doing this more accurate test, especially if it's that affordable.  I'll bet Connie would too as we are really struggling with why she is having problems losing (she's very active also).  Do you know of a place in Greenville?  Dayton?  I am not aware of anything in Greenville but those silly little meter things they use at Curves.  Please advise....I would like to follow this through

(for those of you who don't know what I mean, read comments in last BMR post)

Also....thank you for constructively contributing, and especially making me think.  I often look like I have all the answers because of what I do for a living, but bottom line....I'm just an average girl struggling with issues just like everyone else.  I am willing to be pushed out of my comfort zone in order to live happier and healthier (physically, emotionally, and spiritually).  I don't have all the answers....(don't tell my hubby I said that though)

More later!  Gotta clean up house today and doing a long run this afternoon!

I'm not sure I'm posting this correctly.....YES I would be very interested in getting/paying for a test that would tell me about my metabolism.....BMR.....or anything along these lines....I took a BMI online....but how can these tell... I'm MUCH MUCH MUCH leaner then when I weighed 228 lbs 20 years ago... then I was all fat. Now I have a lot of muscle mass. (yeah, I've got fat too, but just not nearly what I did before.... and my BMI would have calc. the same)

where do you want me to post my food intake for the day? Do you want me to post it? I'm calculating and recording in CALORIECOUNT.ABOUT.COM daily and this gives me charts and a 'grade card' for the day as well as since I started....it's very cool ...check it out if you have not already done so!! You can also add in your exercise.....etc.

After one week, I feel great!! My jeans are actually a little loser! YEA ME! I didn't get on the scales this am....actually forgot!

Looking forward to another week. Going to try and be more disciplined this week...find more fun low cal foods, eliminate the beer calories and go to tae bow tomorrow evening along w/ spinning X3, jogging/walk at least once and lift once (prob. Friday am)

That's my plan. Food wise for tomorrow. Salad for lunch maybe w/ Steph, lean cusine for afternoon snack and harvest soup for dinner and sandwich. Yogurt for snack and shake for breakfast. Shooting for 1,200-1,500 calories a day this week.

BB back in the house.
I've been busy and haven't had time to look into your progress. I found a place you can get tested but with a little work on your part you might be able to find a place that is much close. With the looks of it, you've got a lot of "biker" friends...and not the Harley kind. A lot of these bikers should know or at least heard of resting metabolism heart rate tests and a more extensive test called the VO2 MAX test. This gives you much more detailed info on your overall fitness, ideal heart rate zone you should be working out in if your wear a heart rate monitor and you should be able to determine your overall fitness potential. You can do an internet search and learn what the test is and what it will tell you and how to use the information to benefit your quest to shape up. You've got to workout hard and smart. This will allow you to do that. It will also give you valuable nutritional information/requirements which is why I suggested it in the first place.
The website I found was
http://powerathlete.net/
their place of business is 144 West Park Road in Centerville, OH 45459 Phone:937-436-2110
They may be able to tell you who else does this test that might be close to you. Regardless, I think it will be worth the drive.
I think it will give you information you need to have the confidence to manage your workouts and nutritional needs. There's nothing worse that wondering if your doing things right or wrong, not getting the results you want and then going further off the right path by making bad choices because you lack information to make good choices.
This isn't going to do anything more than that. Give you additional information to make better choices. The VO2 MAX is what elite athletes use to measure their progress and determine their needs. Last point, the test (in my opinion) doesn't cost much. About $100. But you can compare shop, you'll start to find more places that do this if you work at it. I know there's another place in Worthington, OH ...I think that is north of Columbus.
